The Wildcats' defense was the story of the night in a rather lopsided 21-7 win over Olympia (3-3, 1-0) on Thursday during the Titans' homecoming night.
Winter Park kicked off the night with a nice drive all the way downfield, which was capped off by a one-yard touchdown run by quarterback Cameron Legree with 8:36 to go in the first quarter.
For the rest of the half the Wildcats' offense would be plagued by some turnovers, while the defense would step up.
Throughout the game the Wildcats (6-0, 1-0) suffocated every offensive drive by the Titans, with the only touchdown given up coming on a loose fumble that rolled into the end zone just before the first quarter ended – making it 7-7 after the extra point.
The score would sit at 7-7 at the half, before the Wildcats would snag a long touchdown catch by receiver Brian Gomez and a pick-6 by free safety Jordan Manning to settle on the final 21-7 score.
The game against Olympia is the first of three in the span of a week, as scheduling was thrown out of whack due to Hurricane Irma. Next up for the Wildcats are the Colonial Grenadiers (1-6, 0-1) on Monday, and then the University Cougars (2-3, 1-1) on the 13th.
